The Falcon-X is a portable alternating magnetic field system for high-resolution NMR spectrometers that transports samples between magnetic field strengths of over 10 Tesla and 10 Nanotesla in just 500 milliseconds. This rapid adjustment of the magnetic field enables detailed investigations of spin physics and nuclear spin hyperpolarization, which is of great importance for sophisticated scientific and medical applications. A particular advantage of the system is its ability to be installed without modifications to existing devices and also to function in rooms with low ceilings. A four-layer mu-metal shield ensures that the magnetic field is controlled and shielded to within 10 nanotesla, ensuring a precise and reliable measurement environment.
The Falcon-X was developed as part of Kiel University’s validation fund and supported in prototype development by FabLab Kiel and the MakerCube initiative.
