Adapter solution for DLRG lifeboats
The DLRG came to us with a technical challenge:
Due to their height, the new radios no longer fitted under the existing splash-proof covers of the lifeboats.
To solve this problem, we developed custom-fit acrylic glass adapters based on the original cover and exact measurements and manufactured them as prototypes.
The tests were successful – the new radios now fitted perfectly under the protective hoods. Following feedback from several DLRG associations in northern Germany, the prototype was developed into a small series.
To do this, we had the adapter parts milled from POM (polyoxymethylene) in China. In addition to the desired quantity, we were able to gain important insights into surface finishing from new suppliers.
The adapters now consist of two precisely laser-cut and bonded POM layers and offer a robust, weatherproof and durable solution for DLRG rescue units.
