In certain applications, modern technology reaches its limits and the only option is to use traditional tools.
In a special laboratory application, unexpected corrosion problems arose – even stainless steel screws began to rust. The only practicable solution was to use the high-performance plastic PEEK (polyether ether ketone). This material is resistant to high temperatures, radiation and moisture as well as numerous aggressive chemicals.
As screws made from PEEK are not available on the German market and a time-critical order from abroad was out of the question, we had to fall back on tried and tested production techniques. In addition, none of our established processes were able to adequately process the material.
The required screws were therefore manufactured manually from PEEK rods on the lathe and milling machine and thus individually adapted to the specific requirements of the application.
The result is a functional custom-made product that is a clear example of how high-tech materials and traditional craftsmanship can complement each other perfectly.
