Hardware prototyping for “FLIN Solar”

The Kiel-based start-up develops modular solar systems that are hoisted and guided on boats like a sail. With the support of the MakerCube team and the digital manufacturing tools available, they were able to easily implement various steps in their hardware prototyping:
They used the Markforged 3D printer to print the first high-quality prototypes for the frame profiles of their solar modules, the laser cutter was used to produce signage for a trade fair stand and the foil plotter and hot press were also used to print the bags for their FLINsails.
Founder Lasse says: “I particularly liked the concentrated know-how and the good atmosphere in the team. If we have any questions about production processes or product design, we can always turn to Volker and his network. Tobi and Jan provide us with intensive support for technical questions, especially regarding CNC milling technology and 3D printing. The MakerCubes enable creative people to become self-employed.”
