His idea was to digitize the badly damaged piece using a 3D scan and then print it out in high resolution. The printed model will now be used for tests with fragments held in collections outside Germany.  <\/p>\n<p>We realized the print with our Form3 SLA printer, using a slightly transparent resin and achieving the maximum print resolution of 0.025 mm layer thickness. During alignment, we took care to position the relevant fracture edges in such a way that no support structures influenced the tests.
