3D scan and print of a historical find

A few weeks ago, an archaeologist found his way to us and brought back a historical find. His idea was to digitize the badly damaged piece using a 3D scan and then print it out in high resolution. The printed model will now be used for tests with fragments held in collections outside Germany.

We realized the print with our Form3 SLA printer, using a slightly transparent resin and achieving the maximum print resolution of 0.025 mm layer thickness. During alignment, we took care to position the relevant fracture edges in such a way that no support structures influenced the tests. We are looking forward to the results.
