3D-printed miniature sculptures

To create miniature versions of his sculptures, sculptor Jo Kley works primarily with our resin-based 3D SLA printer from formlabs. Mainly for themselves, but also to give galleries and customers a haptic demonstration of their digital designs.

Another important aspect is the digitization of his artworks, which he processes with the help of our team and construction software so that they can be sent as a file and theoretically recreated anywhere in the world.

This is currently the case in northern China, where his work “Minqin Oasis”, a ten-meter-high tower made of steel cubes, is being replicated for a sculpture park. Jo Kley sees the fact that unique pieces predominate in the art world, but that the new technology allows detailed duplicates to be created and distributed globally, more as a fascinating opportunity than as something that frightens him. To achieve this, he relies on good and therefore trusting cooperation with his customers and partners – this is the only way to create fresh opportunities and benefits.
