Building a parametric bench

Whether you are a start-up, craft business or production company: our MakerCubes equipped with high-tech machines offer the opportunity to explore modern production possibilities and explore the potential of digital production methods for your own company or next project.
From 360° 3D scanners to 3D printers with carbon fiber-reinforced filaments – we make digital manufacturing tools available throughout Schleswig-Holstein with our transportable MakerCubes.

Our best-practice examples show how diverse the areas of application are and the projects that have emerged from them to date. We not only illustrate external results, but also the work created in our team, such as a CO2 sensor, a hanging plotter or a parametric bench.

The parametric bench is a CAD-generated bench that is made up of individual milled wooden spans and can theoretically be continued endlessly. The basis for this is formed by geometries generated on the basis of initial parameters, which can be influenced by variables and algorithms.
After generating the model with the Grasshopper plug-in for Rhino, the individual parts are derived and converted into a digital milling template.

With the help of the Fusion360 nesting function, the individual parts can be arranged in the most material-efficient and sustainable way possible and then milled out with the Shapertool, a hand-held CNC router.
